Stewart Wins First of the Season

Tony Stewart scored his first win of the 2010 season when he picked up the checkered flag in Sunday night's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Emory Healthcare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Stewart had a strong car, leading 176 laps, and great pit stops from his No. 14 team to get him his 38th career win, and first since going to Victory Lane at Kansas Speedway last October.

Ryan Newman and Kasey Kahne made contact to bring out the last caution of the 325-lap race and set up the final dash to the checkered flag.

Stewart took the green from the top spot with 18 laps to go when racing resumed and was able to pull away from Carl Edwards for the win.

“I didn’t hit a restart all night until right there at the end,” Stewart said. “I’ve never been so happy with a win in my life.

"I forgot what it was like, it's been so long. It felt like its been an eternity since I won."

Stewart, who jumped two spots to fourth in the standings, clinched his spot in the Chase with the win along with seven additional drivers.

Robotic Welding Gives Chrysler and Dodge
Motorsports a Competitive Edge in NASCAR
Car of Tomorrow

Chrysler installed a Fanuc/Lincoln Electric® robotic welding cell to speed up production time and weld quality on the NASCAR Car of Tomorrow (COT) car kits it constructs for its Dodge Motorsports teams. The company realized a 75-percent reduction in production time, which also translated into about a 50-percent cost savings for the teams.

Launched by NASCAR in 2006, the COT is a new universal car design being used by all teams. It is meant to level the playing field, includes improved safety features and provides for more cost effective maintenance.
